Project Overview
FIL Surge Protector Socket is a functional household electrical product positioned for everyday consumers. While the product itself is practical and reliable, the existing packaging design lacked clarity, visual hierarchy, and modern appeal. The challenge was to redesign the packaging box to look more professional, trustworthy, and market-ready while working within a limited budget and without an existing print dieline.
The project required a full packaging redesign that maintained essential product information, safety warnings, and brand identity, while improving visual consistency and print readiness.
Our Approach
We focused on creating a clean, structured, and print-ready packaging design that clearly communicates the product’s value and safety features, while elevating the brand’s shelf presence.
Our approach combined practical packaging standards with strong visual organization to ensure the design was both functional for printing and appealing to consumers.
Core focus areas included:
Clear Visual Hierarchy
We reorganized product information, headlines, and specifications to ensure key details are easy to scan at a glance, especially on the front and side panels.
Brand Consistency
The existing FIL branding, colors, and product identity were preserved and refined to maintain brand recognition while improving overall presentation.
Accurate Packaging Structure
A custom dieline was created based on the provided box dimensions (18cm × 15cm), ensuring all panels—front, back, left, right, top, and bottom were correctly sized and labeled for print.
Safety & Compliance Communication
All warning illustrations and safety instructions were retained, carefully rearranged, and adapted to visually match the actual socket product while maintaining their original meaning.
Key Challenges & Solutions
No Existing Print Dieline
Since no flattened box template was provided, a custom
was developed from scratch using accurate measurements. This ensured the final design would align correctly during folding, gluing, and printing.
Limited Visual Assets
With minimal high-quality assets available, we optimized existing product imagery and adapted illustrations to closely resemble the real socket, improving visual accuracy without altering the original safety information.
Budget Constraints
Working within a ₦25,000 budget, the focus remained strictly on packaging redesign, prioritizing clarity, print readiness, and essential branding over unnecessary visual complexity.
Outcome
The final result is a fully designed, print-ready packaging box that:
Clearly presents the FIL Surge Protector Socket
Communicates safety information effectively
Uses accurate dimensions and structure
Looks more professional, modern, and shelf-ready
